Almost everyone knows what a migraine is, not from medical reference books, but from their own experience. But many still confuse the symptoms that indicate this disease.
This period is called prodromal. Symptoms appear, thanks to which you will be able to find out about the approaching attack in 1-2 days:
- a sharp increase in appetite;
- constipation;
- frequent urination;
- fluid retention;
- sudden mood swings;
- strange sensations in the neck.
Strange feeling
Right before or during an attack, strange sensations occur. This state lasts from five minutes to an hour. Most often there is a visual impairment. A person sees flashes of light, bright flashing dots, sparks, various patterns. But other symptoms are also possible:
- numbness or tingling of the face and fingertips;
- dizziness, balance problems;
- ringing in the ears;
- difficult speech.
It happens that after this, not a migraine appears, but only a slight headache.
Headache on the one hand
This is the most difficult stage to bear. With migraines, a strongly throbbing pain covers only half of the head, only in rare cases entirely. During this, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to sound and light may be observed.
If the migraine is not treated, then the attacks usually last from 4 hours to three days.
The end of the attack
After the attack is over, the pain goes away, but weakness, depression and irritability may persist for about a day. There are also symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, impaired coordination of movements.
You should immediately consult a doctor if the following symptoms occur:
- very severe headache;
- double vision;
- partial or complete loss of vision;
- the pain is accompanied by a temperature above 38 ° C;
- the speech suddenly became slurred or heavily distorted;
- convulsions.
